I am engaged in a variety of project types including design of private residences, adaptive reuse and shell development, and tenant improvements. I particularly enjoy working with homeowners & small business people to define their needs, develop alternate solutions, facilitate construction, and ultimately realize their vision.
Quality design solutions are necessarily specific to the place, culture, and activities intended for a project. Elements like style, structural efficiency, ecological sustainability & character of space are codependent & must be fit to each solution appropriately.
I promote a team approach to design solutions, depending on the complexity of a project. I equip clients to explore design on their own- our dialogue depends on mutual engagement in the problem. I maintain relationships with engineers, landscape architects, and construction professionals & encourage their involvement early in the process. The earlier team members are involved the sooner novel opportunities will present themselves.
